Ranua Zoo is a true haven for wildlife enthusiasts, and in fact, it gives you the chance to encounter more than 200 Arctic species. What is Ranua Wildlife Zoo Park?

The park is home to more than 50 Arctic and northern animal species. You can meet polar bears, lynx, moose, reindeer, owls, wolves, and many other fascinating creatures in a natural forest environment.

A typical visit lasts about 2–3 hours, depending on your pace and interest. The walking route is around 2.5 kilometers long and takes you through the forest, where the animals live in spacious areas.

Ranua Wildlife Zoo Park is open year-round, but during winter (December–March), the park becomes especially atmospheric with snow-covered enclosures and crisp Arctic air. Animals are adapted to cold weather, so you’ll often see them active.

Participation & Requirements

Yes, Ranua Wildlife Zoo Park is very family-friendly. Children especially enjoy spotting the animals and learning about Arctic wildlife. Stroller access is available, and there are cafes, rest areas, and playgrounds that make the experience comfortable for the whole family.

  • On weekdays and Saturdays: minimum 2 people required for the tour.
  • On Sundays and public holidays: minimum 4 people required.
  • If the minimum is not met, the tour may be rescheduled or canceled.

Safety, Weather & What to Wear

Paths may be snowy or icy.

The park operates in normal winter conditions. Animals are adapted to cold weather, and paths are maintained for safety. Tours only cancel in extreme conditions.

Booking, Pick-up & Logistics

Yes — pick-up and drop-off within ~10 km of Rovaniemi city centre are included in the price.

It’s recommended to book as soon as you know your travel dates — especially in high season. The operator reserves the right to cancel or reschedule if minimum group size isn’t met.

If the booking is cancelled 1 day or less before the event, the cancellation fee is 100%.
