Riisitunturi National Park is one of Finland’s most iconic winter destinations. Famous for its surreal snow-covered trees — known as Arctic Snow Monsters — the park offers one of the most photogenic winter landscapes in Lapland.
This guided winter hike from Rovaniemi takes you deep into untouched Arctic wilderness, far from crowds and mass tourism. Designed as a premium small-group experience, the hike combines breathtaking scenery, expert local guiding and a traditional Finnish lunch by open fire.
Riisitunturi’s legendary snow monsters are formed by a unique combination of heavy snowfall, freezing temperatures and strong winds. Over time, trees become completely covered in snow and ice, transforming into massive white sculptures found nowhere else in Finland.
These extreme Arctic conditions make Riisitunturi National Park one of the most photographed winter landscapes in Lapland. During the hike, your guide explains how these formations are created and why this area is so special compared to other winter destinations near Rovaniemi.

This experience is designed to be relaxed, scenic and enjoyable — not a physical challenge. The guided winter hike is approximately 4 kilometers and follows maintained trails through the national park.
Group size is limited to maximum 8 guests, ensuring a calm atmosphere, personal guiding and plenty of time for photography. Depending on snow conditions, snowshoes are provided to guarantee safe and comfortable walking.
The pace is unhurried, with frequent stops to admire the landscape, take photos and learn about Lapland’s Arctic nature.
