3-Day Lapland Experience
Northern Lights, Santa & Arctic Adventures

Immerse yourself in Lapland over three magical days!

This 3-day package combines aurora hunting, an authentic reindeer and husky experience, and a visit to the one-and-only Santa Claus Village, along with exhilarating options like snowmobiling or ice fishing. Perfect for families and couples, this itinerary ensures you check off all the Lapland highlights while still having a bit of free time to relax or explore Rovaniemi.

3-Day Lapland Experience

Day 1

Arrival & Northern Lights Introduction

Arrive in Rovaniemi (we can arrange an airport transfer on request). Take the afternoon to settle in at your hotel. Evening: Kick off your Lapland adventure with our signature Northern Lights Pro Tour. Starting around 18:00, your guide briefs you on the aurora forecasts and weather. Then you’ll set out in search of clear skies, driving as far as needed – even into the fells or across the Swedish border if the auroras demand! We leave early enough to maximize the chances. Out in the wilderness, enjoy a campfire dinner (Lappish sausages and hot drinks) as you wait for the Northern Lights. If luck is on our side, you’ll witness a breathtaking display and get professional photos as a souvenir. (If not, you have another two nights in Lapland for opportunities.)

Day 2

Arctic Animals & Santa Claus

Morning:

After breakfast, meet two of Lapland’s most beloved animals. We start with a Husky Safari at a local kennel (30 min drive from town). You’ll be greeted by a chorus of excited sled dogs! After safety instructions, hit the trail on a 7 km husky sled ride through frosty forests (approx. 3o minute ride). You can take turns mushing or just enjoy the ride as a passenger. Back at the kennel, spend time with the dogs, pet the friendly huskies, and learn how they are raised and trained. Warm berry juice by a campfire wraps up the husky tour. Next, a short transfer takes you to a nearby Reindeer Farm. Here you’ll meet gentle reindeer and the Sámi or Finnish farmers who care for them. Enjoy a tranquil sleigh ride (about 1 km) through snow-draped woods and earn your “Arctic Circle Reindeer Driving License” (a fun certificate)! Kids can also try feeding the reindeer.

Afternoon:

We include a must-do pilgrimage – a visit to Santa Claus Village on the Arctic Circle linebooklapland.fi. Spend the afternoon exploring Santa’s Village: meet Santa Claus himself (families can have a private chat and photo), send postcards from Santa’s official Post Office (with a special Arctic Circle postmark), and shop for souvenirs. Stand with one foot in the Arctic Hemisphere and one in the south at the Arctic Circle line! We’ll ensure you have ample time for all the Village attractions and arrange return transfer to your hotel by around 17:00.

Evening:

You have this evening free to relax after a full day. Optionally, if the previous night’s aurora hunt was unsuccessful (or if you just want more), you can add an extra Northern Lights tour tonight – we can arrange a relaxed aurora camp or even an Aurora Snowmobile Safari for a different experience. If you choose to take it easy, perhaps enjoy a Finnish sauna at your hotel or a local restaurant dinner.

Day 3

Choose Your Adventure & Aurora Finale

Morning:

This morning, you have some free time to explore or add an extra activity. Some ideas: visit the Arktikum Museum in Rovaniemi to learn about Lapland’s nature and history, or try a short snowshoe walk in Ounasvaara hill (we can provide snowshoes). If you prefer a guided activity, we can organize a snowmobile short safari.

Afternoon:

For your final daytime adventure, we offer a choice based on your interests (each ~3-4 hours):

Evening:

On your final night, if you haven’t yet caught the Northern Lights or simply can’t get enough, we include another Northern Lights evening tour. We’ll try a different strategy/location from the first night to improve our chance. With two nights of aurora hunting in one trip, your likelihood of seeing the Aurora is very high (statistically, ~85% chance over 3 nights in clear weather). If you already saw auroras, this second tour can be a relaxed chase or even replaced with a City Lights tour (seeing Rovaniemi by night) upon request. Either way, a memorable last night is ensured. Return to hotel around midnight with a camera full of memories!

Day 4

Departure from Rovaniemi (or continue your holiday in Lapland).

We can arrange a drop-off at the airport/train station as needed. If you have a later departure, consider adding a morning Ice SnowHotel visit or last-minute shopping in town. (This Day 4 is not counted in package “days” since activities end Day 3, but just for reference if needed.)

Note: This package is quite comprehensive; if you’re a luxury traveler, ask us about upgrading to private tours for the aurora hunts or a private car/guide throughout. Families with small kids can swap the Night 3 aurora tour for a Northern Lights by bus (easier for children to rest – we have a family aurora bus tour). We’ll adjust start times in winter to daylight (around 10:00) for activities.

General Package Information

This is a 3-day winter holiday in Rovaniemi designed for travelers who want a complete Arctic experience.
Depending on your chosen package, the program typically includes:

  • Northern Lights hunting (1–2 nights)

  • Husky or reindeer experience

  • A visit to Santa Claus Village or Ranua Wildlife Park

  • One additional Arctic adventure (Snowmobile, Ice Fishing, etc.)

  • Daily transfers and professional guiding

It offers more time and flexibility than a 2-day package, making it ideal for families, couples, and first-time visitors.

All activities are based in Rovaniemi, Finnish Lapland, with visits to:

  • Arctic wilderness locations for Northern Lights hunting

  • Reindeer or husky farms outside the city

  • Santa Claus Village or Ranua Wildlife Park (depending on package)

The experience lasts 3 full days, including daytime activities and 1–2 nights of Northern Lights tours.

Yes — this is one of the most popular packages for first-time visitors, as it combines wildlife, Arctic culture, snow activities, and Aurora Borealis in one short trip.

The package includes:

  • 2 Guided Northern Lights hunts (Day 1 and Day 3 nights) with all inclusions (transfers, gear, snacks, photos, expert guide).
  • Husky Safari (~7km trail) with kennel visit (includes transfers, warm drinks)
  • Reindeer Farm Visit with sleigh ride (includes transfers, farm fees, guiding).
  • Santa Claus Village visit (transfer and guiding for a half-day tour at the village).
  • One guided “Option” activity on Day 3 (choice of Snowmobile tour or Korouoma hike or Ice Floating & Sauna) – includes necessary equipment, guide, and any entry fees.
  • Airport transfers in Rovaniemi (if needed, on arrival Day 1 and departure Day 4) – we can include this as a value-add since it’s a multi-day package.
  • All required winter clothing for activities.
  • Meals: Husky safari includes campfire juice/snack; Korouoma hike (if chosen) includes picnic lunch; other options include breaks with drinks; we will provide one light lunch either on Day 2 or Day 3 depending on chosen activities (e.g. picnic on hike or lunch during Santa visit).
  • All internal transfers during tours, and hotel pick-ups/drop-offs.
  • Guidance and support: a dedicated contact person from BookLapland for your trip (should you need any assistance, we’re a call away).

All taxes and handling fees.

What is NOT included?

  • Accommodation (3 nights in Rovaniemi) – we can book this separately. Ask us about special rates at our partner hotels or the Igloo Resort!.
  • Most meals not mentioned (dinners in Rovaniemi – we’ll happily recommend top restaurants).
  • Optional add-ons you didn’t choose (e.g. if you wanted to do both snowmobile and Korouoma, the second would cost extra).
  • Personal expenses and insurance.

You will join two separate Northern Lights hunting tours on two different nights, significantly improving your chances of seeing the Aurora.

If the Northern Lights are not seen on the first night due to weather, you receive a second guaranteed chance on Night 2. This is why this package has one of the highest Aurora success rates in Rovaniemi.

We do not run short “city loops”. Our Aurora hunts have no strict time or distance limits. If clear skies require long driving, we go for it.

Yes. Your guide takes professional photos during the Aurora tours, and they are sent to you digitally the next day at no extra cost.
