What do I need to bring?

We will always provide you with proper winter gear, but if you have good and warm hiking equipment available, feel free to use them instead.

The hike usually lasts around 6–7 hours in total, including transfers, the walk through the canyon, photo stops, and a campfire break.

Yes. You can take photos with your own device throughout the hike. Korouoma is one of the most photogenic winter locations in Lapland.

Participation & Requirements

No extreme fitness is required, but this is a moderate-level winter hike.
You should be comfortable:

  • Walking several kilometers

  • Hiking on snowy and sometimes icy terrain

The guide sets a suitable pace and takes breaks when needed.

  • Children under 5 years old are not recommended

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult

  • On weekdays and Saturdays: minimum 2 people required for the tour.
  • On Sundays and public holidays: minimum 4 people required.
  • If the minimum is not met, the tour may be rescheduled or canceled.

Safety, Weather & What to Wear

We recommend warm layers underneath:

  • Thermal underwear

  • Wool socks

  • Hat and scarf

We provide outer winter gear and ice grippers if neede

Korouoma operates in normal Arctic winter conditions. The route and pace are adapted to weather and trail conditions. Tours are only cancelled in extreme situations..

Booking, Pick-up & Logistics

Yes — pick-up and drop-off within ~10 km of Rovaniemi city centre are included in the price.

It’s recommended to book as soon as you know your travel dates — especially in high season. The operator reserves the right to cancel or reschedule if minimum group size isn’t met.

If the booking is cancelled 1 day or less before the event, the cancellation fee is 100%.

Can I use my own winter hiking gear?

Yes. Private Korouoma hikes can be arranged on request for families, photographers, or small groups.

Absolutely. Korouoma is one of the best winter photography locations in Lapland, especially for frozen waterfalls, canyon landscapes, and ice formations.
