Participation & Requirements

No experience is needed. Your guide will explain how to:

  • drill the ice

  • use the fishing rod

  • interpret fish behavior
    This activity is suitable for beginners.

Children are welcome but:

  • Children under 5 are not recommended due to cold and walking on ice

  • Younger kids should ride with an adult where needed

  • On weekdays and Saturdays: minimum 2 people required for the tour.
  • On Sundays and public holidays: minimum 4 people required.
  • If the minimum is not met, the tour may be rescheduled or canceled.

Safety, Weather & What to Wear

Dress warmly for Lapland winter conditions:

  • Warm winter jacket

  • Thermal layers

  • Hat, gloves, scarf

  • Winter boots

Paths in the village are well maintained, but temperatures can be very cold.

In very severe cold or unsafe conditions, the tour may be adjusted, rescheduled, or replaced with a safer alternative. Your guide will advise on the best course.

Yes — pick-up and drop-off within ~10 km of Rovaniemi city centre are included in the price.

It’s recommended to book as soon as you know your travel dates — especially in high season. The operator reserves the right to cancel or reschedule if minimum group size isn’t met.

If the booking is cancelled 1 day or less before the event, the cancellation fee is 100%.
