For families with young children, we ensure the schedule has a good balance of activity and downtime, with child-friendly activities (shorter durations, easygoing fun, and of course opportunities to meet Santa!). We provide child seats in transfers and can arrange babysitting services if parents want an evening out. For older travelers or those with mobility considerations, we can adjust the itinerary to a comfortable pace – for instance, using sleighs or vehicles instead of long walks, scheduling rest days, and selecting accommodations with easy access (some cabins and hotels have accessibility features). The peak season for a classic Lapland winter holiday is December through March. December is popular for families (Christmas time with Santa’s Village festivities in full swing), while January–February offer the deepest winter ambiance with long nights ideal for Northern Lights viewing. March brings a bit more daylight and slightly milder temperatures, great for outdoor activities and still plenty of snow. If seeing the Northern Lights is a top priority, any time from late August to early April can offer chances, with the clearest skies often in mid-winter. Keep in mind that December is very popular (especially around Christmas) so early booking is recommended. Each season has its charm – for example, late November and early April are slightly quieter but still have snow and aurora opportunities, and you might find more availability. The Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) are a natural phenomenon, so while Lapland is one of the best places on Earth to see them, they cannot be guaranteed on a given night . That said, our packages include Aurora hunting activities led by expert guides who maximize your chances. We choose nights with good forecasts, take you far from city lights to dark skies , and often schedule multiple aurora hunts on a 3+ night trip to increase the odds you’ll catch the “cosmic dance” at least once. Winter Activity Packages are in high demand, and key experiences like igloo hotels and Santa visits can sell out months in advance. By booking 6-12 months ahead, you’ll have the best selection of accommodations and activities. However, don’t be discouraged if you’re late to plan – we often can still arrange an amazing trip on shorter notice, especially outside of the peak holiday weeks. If your travel dates are fixed (e.g., Christmas week), try to secure your package by late spring or early summer. For more flexible or off-peak trips, a few months in advance may suffice.
